Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you provide services?

Services at Driftless Integrative Psychiatry are provided through HIPAA-compliant video (Zoom) or in-person at our clinic in downtown Lansing, Iowa.

I am licensed in MN, WI, and IA.  Telemedicine laws are changing every year and more states are allowing physicians licensed in other states to provide care to patients in that state.  Please inquire if you are a patient interested in care at our clinic and we can let you know about the current telehealth legislation.

Alternatively, we can see patients throughout the US if they are able to physically come to our modern, comfortable clinic in Iowa.  We have recommendations for hotels and strongly believe the Driftless Region is one of most beautiful, relaxing places to visit in the country.

Do you accept insurance?

Driftless Integrative Psychiatry does not participate with commercial insurance companies, Medicaid, nor Medicare.  This means that your care is outcomes driven and based on your individual needs, where you are in charge of your treatment - not insurance companies.

We are often able to run basic labs through insurance via ICD 10 codes.  Functional medicine labs are typically not covered by insurance.  Specialty/functional medicine labs are often indicated and recommended.  We will recommend specific  specialty functional medicine labs if we think they will change the treatment course and your outcome.

Why wouldn't I just see a psychiatrist through my insurance?
Great question.

Your mental health is one of the best investments you can make - it is an investment in yourself.  This is not just a cost.

It all comes down to value.

Keep in mind that with most health care behavioral health services, you cannot choose your psychiatrist and scheduling can be a huge headache due to availability.  It is not uncommon to have to wait months for a follow up. At Driftless Integrative Psychiatry, you will work directly with Dr. Burger and not have to go through administrative hurdles to be in touch with her as a patient. Prices are transparent, unlike if you work with your insurance company/healthcare system.

Dr. Burger utilizes cutting edge integrative approaches and intentionally sees fewer patients in order to provide the best quality of care possible.  She reviews labs, reads up on your symptoms and possible causes, and stays up to date on the latest research as part of your care.  In addition, appointments can be made with ease through online real-time scheduling.  She has expertise and certification in integrative psychiatry, women's mental health, and ketamine assisted therapy.
We help patients get back to their work or take the leap to start a new business that ends up returning the investment that they spent on their mental health care here.

Do you see children or adolescents?
On a case-by-case basis.  Please inquire by completing the inquiry form.

I'm a clinician interested in offering ketamine assisted therapy or starting a private practice, and was looking for any recommendations or advice.

I offer 1-1 consultations (go to Work with Me) and book a time/date that works for you on the calendar.  We are also offering ketamine therapy experientials for health care professionals.  Our next offering can be found by visiting this page.  Join our waitlist for our online ketamine therapy practice membership here
